Chapter 14 Study Guide

Test: Friday, September 5th

1. Know the types of energy and be able to identify examples of each
2. Define: renewable, alternative resources, turbine, generator, non-renewable
3. Energy transformation flow charts  
(example: the hairdryer =  electrical -> thermal -> mechanical)
4. Be able to label the types of energy in diagrams (ex: lamp in Interactive Notebook)
5. Understand the Law of Conservation of Energy states that energy cannot be created or destroyed (or lost)
6. Know how to calculate joules. (ex: Lanie owns a 150 watt laptop computer. It transforms all of its 150 joules of electrical energy into heat energy, sound energy, and light energy. It uses 90 joules of heat energy and 40 joules of light energy. How much sound energy does it use?)
